Five Years Celebrating Poets

The Frost Meadow Review is a print biannual literary publication focusing on poetry. Themes published include natural world relationships, New England living, small farms, coastal communities, ecology and hope through darkness. The Frost Meadow Review seeks to include diverse voices and promote aspiring writers. No previous publication experience is required. Special consideration is given to writers living in Maine and New Hampshire. The printed review is published in two editions Spring/Summer(released sometime in May-July) and Fall/Winter (released sometime in November-January).

The Review is set up with the following sections:

  1. Editor’s Choice Award Recipient – every volume one poem is selected by the editorial team to receive this special honor. The poet receives a $50 cash prize. The poem is the first published in the print volume and is also published on our Editor’s Choice Award page on our website.
  2. Featured Poet: Show – every volume highlights the work of one poet with a show and tell approach. The poet is contacted by the editorial team (usually about a year in advance) with an invitation to develop a collection of 10-20 poems for publication. Sometimes the poet choose to use this opportunity to create a thematic collection of work while other times the collection is more of a portfolio of variety. The editorial team and the featured poet work together to formalize the collection before publication.
  3. Featured Poet: Tell – in this section of the review, the featured poet is encouraged to expound upon their writing, experience, creative process and recommendations for other aspiring writers. This section allows readers to see more about the person behind the poetry, learn about the similarities and differences in poetic approaches and creative processes and build connections with other poets in the community.
  4. Selected Works – the Frost Meadow Review also opens a call for submissions twice a year. From these submissions, a collection of poems is selected to be published in the print review. Poets receive 3 free copies of the print review for their personal collection or to share with family.
  5. Poet Bios – short third person bios are provided for each poet included in the volume.

Compensation: At this time the Frost Meadow Review is run as a labor of love by Puffling Press LLC. The editorial team volunteers their time to create this publication. At this time compensation is limited to:
– 3 free copies of print edition for each published poet in the selected works
– 6 free copies of print edition for the Featured Poet
– 3 free copies of the print edition to cover artist
– 3 free copies of the print edition for the Editor’s Choice Award Winner, $50 cash prize and publication of the winning poem on the Frost Meadow Review website.

Free print copies are provided for the poet’s individual use and are not for resale. If a poet would like to discuss promotional/sales opportunities, the editorial team would love to discuss options.
