Congratulations Lynne Schmidt
We are pleased to announce that this season’s Editor’s Choice Award goes to Lynne Schmidt for her poem “Baxter.” This poem broke our hearts and reaffirmed the importance of love at the same time. It was selected because of its raw authenticity and cutting emotional power. You can find her poem here and in the upcoming Volume 3 which will be released in May.
Lynne Schmidt (she/her) is a mental health professional in Maine who writes poetry, memoir, and young adult. In addition to being a Maine Nonfiction Award Winner and PNWA finalist for her memoir, The Right to Live: A Memoir of Abortion, her poetry has received honorable mention from Joy of the Pen, and her chapbook, Dead Dog Poems, was an honorable mention from Pub House books. Her work has appeared in RESIST/RECLAIM, Neon Mariposa, Pussy Magic, Royal Rose, Sixty Four Best Poets of 2018, 2018 Emerging Poets, Frost Meadow Review, Poets of Maine, Poets of New England, Maine Dog Magazine, Alyss Literary, Her Kind Vida, and others. She is a former journalist and is the founder of AbortionChat. She has been and continues to be a featured poet at events throughout Maine. Lynne is a member of PNWA, NEPC, and SEWSA. Lynne prefers the company of her three dogs and one cat to humans.

The Editor’s Choice Award winner is selected from the Frost Meadow Review submissions each season. The winner receives a $50 cash prize, their poem is published in the Frost Meadow Review and published online on the Frost Meadow Review webpage.
